What is your book called and what is it about?
I was in a compilation book – YSHIFT Thriving: Health is Your Greatest Wealth. It’s a compilation of various authors from the health and wellbeing industry, each telling their own story about what they do and why they do it.
Tell us more about you?
I’ve always been interested in and passionate about food from a young age, having studied nutrition straight out of high school. My interest in holistic health grew over the years when I saw the vast areas and all the improvements and benefits provided by complementary modalities. I also think growing up with family who were farmers and often having access to fresh grown food gave me a different perspective on how food can change so much with the processing of it.
I also enjoy travel and culture and have lived in various countries over the years, and have travelled to many more. I like the outdoors, and enjoy a good hike in nature, or a swim at the beach.

Filter coffee or pour over
Pet peeves?
None, life is too short!
What inspired you to write this book?
It’s more my story of how being aware of what you’re eating, being educated, and how empowering it can be once you are educated on health, and how you can make a difference by changing your own habits. I learnt very early its about habits and being consistent with them that determine health, as it doesn’t matter how much knowledge we have, it’s how it’s applied.
How did you find the process of writing and publishing your book?
It was quite streamlined and easy to write, as I spoke at length with the editor and most of the writing process was done by them. I then edited my chapter, or more so made sure I was happy with what was in there, and I really liked the tone and voice of the writing. Overall, it was a process made easy by Dean Publishing.
What surprised you most about the writing process?
I enjoy writing, as it can be very expressive. Being able to go through the process with an editor from the beginning eliminates the long process of writing then rewriting and all the changes that need to be made.
What do you hope the reader gets from reading this book?
I hope the reader is enlightened to holistic methods of health and understanding that, at any time, we have the power, the control, and the choice to create better habits, ask more questions, and ultimately make choices for our health and our body.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to write a book but doesn’t know how?
Just start – start writing, start brainstorming, start the process and get an idea of what you want your book to be about. Working with someone like Dean Publishing definitely makes the process easier, quicker, and allows you to tell your story, and they do all the editing and publishing work for you.
